Carlton's Rouge Royale and other lustre wares is collected avidly all over the world. Compared to Wedgwood's Fairyland Lustre, Carlton Ware had a much bigger and more varies output. Carlton Ware made designs in the 1930s that can be compared to the best designs of the era and indeed a beautiful 1930s Jazz Ginger Jar features on one of the Victoria and Albert Museum'e publications.

Carlton Ware also made designs like Tennis, Rouge Royale, Devil's Copse, Jazz, Gondola, PAgoda, Dragonfly, Butterfly. Persian and a Tutankhamun series which is really lovely and highly sought after. The oriental inspiration behins many of the designs did not die out until the 1960s.

It was only in the 1970s that the tradition for hot wax gilding died out. After that, there were some poor attempts to recreate Rouge Royale until 1993, when Frank Salmon took up the Carlton Ware moulds, the intellectual property and the designs. He has made many pieces which are hand-gilded by the free hand paintesr, Marie Graves and Peter Graves. These pieces are very rare and expensive and many of the pieces that are currently made are commissioned. If you would like a piece commissioning, please contact Carlton Ware directly.
